Welcome to my Study Abroad Blog!

Hi! My name is Barbara Bohanan (cool name, huh?) and I am applying for the 2009 Year Program to Costa Rica, departing this Fall. I cannot believe that this opportunity is so close, as it has always been my dream to study, travel and live in an exotic country. I am also obsessed with learning the Spanish language and derive so much enjoyment from practicing it daily.

As a current sophomore at Sycamore High School, I am heavily involved in many activities, with little free time. Before school, I swim with my club team for 2 hours. During school, I am currently attending 3 AP courses, and am in Spanish III. I am also the Spanish club president and mediate really great discussions during lunch (Spanish only of course!)

I am fully prepared to withstand the trials and tribulations of living abroad for an extended amount of time. I am excited to be an ambassador for the United States in another country and meet many people that I can build lasting relationships with.

My loving parents are fully supportive of my decision to study abroad and I promised them that I would do all that is necessary to raise enough funds, on my own, to live my AFS dream and explore the world. Already, I have attempted several bake sales, while also drafting an email that I sent to 42 businesses in my local community.

Thanks for visiting my blog! I hope you keep swinging by (or perhaps subscribe?) to my updates, which I’ll be making frequently. To sponsor my AFS program now, please visit the Sponsor an AFSer Map click on my pin in Oklahoma!
